Tornado
An Electric age with Diesel Trains
Bid a sad farewell to Steam
With Evening Star deemed to be
The last steam train that's seen

But the interest in the art of Steam
Was kept alive in part
With Branch Lines saved from Beaching's Axe
Kept steam beating in our heart

What an astounding wind of change
The birth of a new train
As Tornado blows along the track
And Steam is back again

A new train would bring fans all out
To hear it's whistle toot
Now You Tube, Facebook, Instagram
All Twittering the Route

Instead of shouts along the Street
"The Mallard comes today"
Now smart phones come alive with news
"A Tornado's on its way."

With Stations for commuters
Become a steam fans dream
All packing out the Platforms
Where Tornado can be seen.

In Green or Blue, the colours change
But one fact to behold
Within its boilers burning bright
Still beats its fire of Gold

Tornado's keeping Steam alive
Puts on some A1 shows
It tells the world of bygone days
Everywhere it goes

Story behind the verse
This was a competition entry for the Severn Valley Railway. It was my second entry having read it was to be more about Tornado than the Railway itself.
